List of upcoming community events

Updated: Sep 23, 2023

I feel things are moving along slowly but at least moving.

It has been so very busy for me with working full time as a PSW, helping my client get his cottage up and running for the season. Getting my taxes and bookkeeping caught up. Also doing cosmetic services on weekends, visiting with my grandchildren, and helping my family in whatever way I can.

My oldest brother has been struggling with esophageal cancer treatments and my heart breaks for him. Any prayers will be so very appreciated. 🙏🙏🙏

Having said all that, I am very keen to have the community join together in the planning of events for the community.

You may have noticed there has been a gospel group meeting there on the church property for 1 hour or so each day this past week which will continue for another week. Consequently this kicks off Glenarm Hall as the new community hub. 😀

I have had some suggestions for events the community would likely support, which are as follows (this currently applies to summer season at this point, until windows in church are fixed and renos are more complete ...

-Christian worship Sundays: 10 - 11 am

-Strawberry Socials - once per month Sundays: Noon - 2 pm

-Seniors weekday mornings: 9:30 am - 12:30pm

-Baseball - Wednesday evenings: 6 pm

-Farmers Market - Saturday mornings 9 am - 1 pm

-Drive in Movie night - once a month, Friday night in the baseball diamond. Dusk - 11pm

-Pub or family night - Every Thursday evening in summer: 7 - 9 pm.

There are more ideas but first I would really love to see a committee of members who would be interested in assisting with such events. At some point I hope to have a bit more time to devote to this effort, however, at this point in the season, I am swamped.

So please, if anyone has a wee bit of time and knowledge of the local area and the neighbors, we could at least start with 1 or 2 community events. If this past pandemic taught me anything, it was the need for a strong community.

Also please remember to pray for my brother Bill. Hopefully you will meet him at our functions once he's feeling better.

Elizabeth
